An Interesting Self-taught Painter

Mickey Ray

Mickey Ray is a self-taught South Florida painter. His works of semi-abstract figures and animals are exciting and vividly colorful. They are dynamic expressions of power, passion, and euphoric emotion. Mickey has been an artist all his life, and was once the cartoonist who drew the famous comic strip "Blondie" for King Features for several years during the 1980's. He turned to painting five years ago when cartooning simply didn't express his heartfelt feelings anymore. Painful bouts of anxiety and depression drove Mickey to express happiness through his art, for both himself and others. His talent very quickly blossomed and earned him a group of fans and collectors here in South Florida. He feels art cannot be great unless it portrays something recognizable to the viewer and expresses heartfelt emotional power. His work can be seen at www.mickeyrayart.blogspot.com
